“Oklahoma Land Run” Samboree Begins Thursday
Over 200 RVs Expected to be On-Site
Shawnee, Oklahoma – April 23, 2007 – The Oklahoma State Good Sam chapters are welcoming Spring with the annual Samboree to be held April 26 – 29 at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in Shawnee. There are more than 200 RVs and 500 people expected to be in attendance during the weekend.
Entertainment will include attendees participating in jams sessions throughout the event along with local groups on hand to provide entertainment each evening during the Samboree. A highlight of the weekend will be theme day on Saturday when attendees are encouraged to dress in costume for “Oklahoma Land Run” day.
Oklahoma Good Sam Club is part of the largest RV owner’s organization in the world, the Good Sam Club. Each Spring and Fall the Oklahoma Good Sam chapters gather together for a Samboree for fun and fellowship and to promote the quality RV lifestyle. Volunteer staff and chapters work year round to provide a well organized event for the RVers.
During the long weekend there is entertainment, vendors, games, Pet parade, door prizes, and much more. Coffee and donuts are served each morning. Seminars and commercial exhibits will be available for anyone interested in learning more about the RVing lifestyle.

There are more than 40 Oklahoma Good Sam Club chapters throughout the state. During the camping season, Chapters meet for monthly campouts of fun and fellowship. • According to a new University of Michigan study commissioned by RVIA, nearly one in 12 U.S. vehicle-owning households now owns an RV. That’s nearly eight million households — a 15 percent increase over the past four years and a 58 percent gain since 1980.
• Based on the latest RV buying trends, by 2010, RVs will be owned by 8.5 million households.
• On average RV travelers spend about $91 per night in the community local to their chosen campground on gasoline, goods and groceries, according to the Recreation Industries Research Center at Michigan State University.
