West Virginia Good Sam Club To Celebrate 30th Anniversary
Over 200 RVs Expected to be On-Site
Mineral Wells, West Virginia – April 23, 2007 – The West Virginia Good Sam Club will be celebrating their 30th anniversary at the Spring Samboree (camp out) May 17-20, 2007. The Samboree will be held at the Butcher Bend 4-H Grounds in Mineral Wells, WV with more than 200 RVs and 500 people expected to be in attendance. Local groups will provide entertainment for the weekend event. On Friday night One A Chord will be entertaining the RVers. Saturday night entertainment will be Insured Sound. A highlight of this Samboree will be the anniversary cake race. Each West Virginia Good Sam (WVGS) Chapter is constructing a “cake” for this fun relay race.
WVGS is part of the largest RV owner’s organization in the world, the Good Sam Club. Each Spring and Fall the WVGS gather together for a Samboree (campout) for fun and fellowship and to promote the quality RV lifestyle. Volunteer staff and WVGS Chapters work year round to provide a well organized event for the RVers.
During the long weekend there is entertainment, vendors, games, raffles, door prizes, a Chinese Auction and much more. A big hit each Samboree is the evening campfire with popcorn made over the fire with singing and entertainment by the WVGS B3s Boom Bah Group. Each WVGS Chapter has duties during the event to help the weekend run smoothly. Most WVGS Chapters also have fundraisers during the weekend for charities they support.
If you are interested in attending the 30th Anniversary Spring Samboree, applications may be obtained at www.wvgoodsams.com or by contacting Don and Kathy Wise (WVGS State Directors) at firstname.lastname@example.org or (304) 482-7568. Applications and WVGS Chapter information is also available at all West Virginia RV dealers. WVGS volunteer staff and Chapters visit local RV dealers on a regular basis to provide WV RV dealers with Samboree applications and information on local Chapters.
There are several WVGS state chapters. During the camping season, Chapters meet for monthly campouts of fun and fellowship. During the winter months many meet for a variety of fun activities. For more information on joining a chapter in your area or starting a new chapter in your area, please visit www.wvgoodsams.com. Each WVGS chapter is involved in many activities including Dogs for the Deaf and the Highway Clean-Up Program plus many activities in their local communities. WVGS is family. We have many members who have 2 or more family generations that belong to WVGS.
RVing Economic Impact Facts:

• Based on the latest RV buying trends, by 2010, RVs will be owned by 8.5 million households.
• On average RV travelers spend about $91 per night in the community local to their chosen campground on gasoline, goods and groceries, according to the Recreation Industries Research Center at Michigan State University.
