Inaugural Benefit Banquet to be Held Tuesday

(Carencro, Louisiana)-The Racing Employees Assistance Program, or REAP a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, was established to provide relief to licensed members of the Evangeline Downs racing community and members of their families. Organizers of the Program propose that such relief will include financial assistance for medical care, food, housing, clothing and education, recreational activities, counsel, job placement, and much more.

As an initial effort to raise funds for REAP, officials with the Program are hosting an Inaugural Benefit Banquet (REAP-the Benefit) tomorrow, Tuesday, August 10. The banquet will be held at the Holidome in Lafayette and will feature a cocktail hour, sit-down dinner, live entertainment, both a live and silent auction, and a reverse drawing worth $5,000.

Selected items to be included in the live auction are: Acadiana-native Will Hinds' "Summer Thirst," a limited edition Fred Stone print, a handmade horse quilt, a trip for two to the Jockey Challenge in Dallas, TX, and a suite at the CajunDome for 10, among many others.

REAP's benefit will begin at 6:00 pm. Entertainment at the banquet will feature Randy James, a local guitarist, and world-renown comedian Murray Conque.
