Affinity Group Inc. Prepares to Clean Up Local Beach
(Ventura, Calif.)- The Good Sam Club’s annual Cleanup Day will be taking place across the nation this weekend, May 21-22. To show their pride in their local public lands and to help kick off the event, employees of Affinity Group Inc. will be cleaning up Buena Ventura State Beach on Wednesday, May 17.
Buena Ventura State Beach is an extremely popular location for both local and visiting outdoor enthusiasts. AGI’s cleanup efforts are aimed at making the beach enjoyable for all who visit, especially in anticipation of a busy Memorial Day weekend. As a result of their efforts in 2005, 24 large Good Sam trash bags were filled with items ranging from old socks and shoes to bottles and buckets.
“We are all fortunate that we have the privilege of enjoying our country’s natural beauty on our public lands,” said Rebecca Zuniga, activities manager for Good Sam Club. “We are proud to have the opportunity to join the thousands of Good Sam Members who will be pitching in this weekend to do their parts in cleaning up public lands all across the country.”
The Good Sam Club created the National Cleanup Day campaign in 1996 as the organization was celebrating its 30th anniversary. Then, the goal was to have each Good Sam member pick up at least one piece of trash on any public land on a particular day. Today, the Good Sam Club has partnered with Take Pride in America, a national volunteer program that aims to encourage support and recognize volunteers that serve on our public lands. National Cleanup Day is just one way that the Good Sam Club recommits itself to the national Take Pride in America program.
