Americans Love Their RVs and Racing
(Valencia, Calif.)— According to a University of Michigan study, RV ownership has reached record levels. It was found that nearly one in 12 U.S. vehicle-owning households own a RV. The typical RV owner is 49-years-old, married, and loves to travel, journeying 4,500 miles for 26 days annually. The driving force behind the RV craze is the baby boomer generation’s transition into retirement.
The nation’s largest and fastest growing spectator sport, NASCAR has also found an audience with baby boomers and beyond flocking to races every weekend in their RVs. As a result of the growth of the RVing consumer market and the NASCAR fan base, Camping World has discovered a new niche market of race fans that camp at various tracks around the country.
Camping World honors these RVing NASCAR fans with a Pit Stop Race Event leading up to the Stater Bros. 300 at the California Speedway on February 25. Customers at the Valencia, California SuperCenter will be treated to prizes and participation in race-theme contests on February 17 and 18, 2006.
The Valencia Camping World SuperCenter will distribute a Race Day Tailgating Handout including the Busch series schedule, John Andretti bio, and a list of everything needed for race day tailgating to customers in store on the 17th and 18th. A Race Day Tailgating display will feature these products needed for race day tailgating with customers having the chance to register to win some of the merchandise on display.
Valencia SuperCenter customers can participate in the Pick the Winner Contest, in which the winning driver of the upcoming Busch race will be predicted. The grand prize for the Pick the Winner contest will be a $500 Camping World merchandise certificate. Customers will also have the chance to register to win a chance to see the race on February 25.
In conjunction with Camping World’s 40th Anniversary year long celebration, customers are invited to enter the Camping World 40 – Remote Control Car Racing Competition for a chance to win a Featherlite Big-Wide Recliner and a race getaway trip to Charlotte, NC in October. Two competitions will be held on Friday, February 17 at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. with winners advancing to the championship race on Saturday, February 18 at 10:00 a.m.
With Valentines’ Day in the air, the Valencia store will also be hosting Love Your RV Days starting Friday, February 17th through Monday, February 20th. Throughout the celebration, customers will be treated to RV-related events and perks such as free RV care seminars, merchandise specials and free prizes.
Free RV care seminars will be offered at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. each day and will cover topics such as cleaning and maintenance, rubber roof replacement/treatment, and much more. Customers who attend a seminar may enter to win a $100 Camping World merchandise certificate, with a winner to be chosen at each store.
Also during Love Your RV Days, customers will receive $5.00 off oil changes, and other service and care advantages. Every attendee will get a free "I Love Camping World" window cling plus limited time only pricing on select merchandise.
