RV: The Rally

(Daytona Beach, Fla.) - Daytona Beach is making history this year. Beginning April 7, more than 4,000 RVs will be coming into town and setting up camp at Daytona Beach International Speedway. The Rally 2006, as the event is known, is a 4-day event that unites RVers from across North America. 2006 marks the first year that an event of this nature will be held at a NASCAR facility.

The focus of The Rally is simple-to educate RV owners about the lifestyle while offering the latest information and showcasing the latest products available in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. Nearly 12,000 RVers are expected from every state for what's anticipated to be the biggest RV Rally of the year.

"Sixty percent of America's 29 million active RVers travel for entertainment purposes alone, which is why we put on The Rally each year," said Bev Dalton, Rally Director. "The event allows RVers to spend time with their families and others who share their passion for the outdoors in an educational, yet entertaining environment. With this year's Rally being held in Daytona, it's sure to be an experience that any member of the family can enjoy."

For those who prefer to stay on top of the latest innovations and designs in the RV industry, exhibit halls will be set up where attendees can view the most current RV products, as well as jewelry, cooking utensils and clothes. Just outside the exhibit halls, new 2006 motorhomes, fifth-wheels, travel trailers, slide-ins, pop-ups and tow vehicles will be on display and available for test driving.

In addition, participants will also have the opportunity to tour "Insider's Florida," a side of Florida known only by the locals. Some of the tours that will be available include Manatee encounters, a luncheon cruise on a quiet waterway, airboat riding, lunch with an astronaut at Kennedy Space Center, a golf tournament and trips to Winter Park, St. Augustine and Port Canaveral.

Each evening, Rally attendees will have the chance to unwind while listening to the sounds of some of their favorite musical talents. This year's lineup will feature performances by America, Juice Newton, the Michael Andrew Orchestra and The Spinners. The Michael Andrew Orchestra will provide the music for one of this year's highlights, the Ballroom Dancing competition.

In a recent survey conducted by the National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (ARVC), it was discovered that 50 percent of RV owners and active RVers travel with members of their extended families. With that in mind, Rally coordinators plan events that appeal that cater interests of all ages. Some of the events lined up this year include a Dog Show to cater to the hundreds of pets that will be arriving with their owners, as well as a free kids program for children ages 6-12.

Several other events will also be featured at The Rally, including a Ladies Red Hat Social, a book discussion and an arts and crafts fair. To top it all off, this year's Rally will feature an RV Makeover sponsored by Dometic, which will be filmed by the crew of RVtoday.

The Good Sam Club, Camping World President's Club, Coast to Coast Resorts, Woodall's and MotorHome and Trailer Life magazines host the Rally.
