4,000 Good Sam Club Members Join National Cleanup Program
to "Help Preserve our Public Lands"

(Ventura, CA) - 2005 marks the 10th consecutive year of Good Sam Club's National Cleanup Day - and 10 years of success for the program. National Cleanup Day was officially held during the weekend of May 14-15, but several Good Sam Chapters held individual cleanups in the following weekends, with even more scheduled over the summer.

To date, nearly 300 organizations have participated in the nationwide cleanup effort, including Good Sam Chapters and individual participants. Together, the participants logged nearly 25,000 cleanup hours and collected more than 5,000 bags of trash.

"We would like to thank all of the individuals and organizations who came out to help us with our cleanup efforts," said Sue Bray, executive director of Good Sam Club. "The goal of the program is to give our public lands a helping hand, and it would not be possible without the many people who volunteer their time and effort. We really appreciate everyone who took part in this year's event."

The Good Sam Club created the National Cleanup Day campaign in 1996 as the organization was celebrating its 30th anniversary. Then, the goal was to have each Good Sam member pick up at least one piece of trash on any public land on a particular day. Today, the Good Sam Club has partnered with Take Pride in America, a national volunteer program that aims to encourage support and recognize volunteers that serve on our public lands. National Cleanup Day is just one way that the Good Sam Club recommits itself to the national Take Pride in America program.
