Record Numbers Anticipated for National Cleanup Day

(Ventura, CA)- With the Good Sam Club's National Cleanup Day less than two weeks away, club officials are seeing record numbers of events planned and bags requested. The theme of the weekend program, scheduled for May 14-15, says all that is needed to know about its overall goal, "Helping to Preserve our Public Lands."

"The increase in participants this year illustrates the overall success of the program," said Sue Bray, executive director of Good Sam Club. "So far, we have more than 150 chapters participating nationwide and anticipate filling 4,000 bags of trash. We are certain that as the event draws closer we will see the numbers steadily increase."

Founded in 1966, the Good Sam Club is the world's largest RV owners organization with nearly one million member families. Since 1996, Good Sam members across the United States and Canada have volunteered their time and efforts to participate in National Cleanup Day, a project aimed at beautifying campgrounds and parks, sponsored by the Good Sam Club.

Take Pride in America is also taking part in the cleanup effort. On May 13, the national initiative will be joining the Tennessee Good Sam members in cleaning up the James E. Ward Agricultural Center in Lebanon, Tennessee. With both organizations involved, turnout expectations are high: The groups have set a goal of filling more than 150 bags of trash, making theirs one of the most extensive cleanup efforts this year.
