2015 EatLafayette Food Wine Beer and Spirits Experience Chairman Awarded the Shun Certified Sugoi Dealer Award by Shun Cutlery
(Lafayette, La.) – Paul Ayo, owner of E’s Kitchen, is a recent recipient of the Shun Certified Sugoi Dealer award. This award is designed to honor Shun Cutlery dealers who are “sugoi” or “incredible” in Japanese. Awarded dealers are known to offer an extensive collection of Shun Cutlery, as well as demonstrate thorough knowledge of their products. Ayo is the fourth person given the Shun Certified Sugoi Dealer award this year, and is among only 35 dealers to have achieved this status in the United States.
E’s Kitchen has been a Shun Knife dealer since 2012 and has the largest selection of Shun Cutlery in Louisiana. Discussing the product line Ayo says, “Shun is Japanese for ‘at the peak of perfection.’ Shun Cutlery lives up to that tradition everyday, making fine kitchen knives that are always at the peak of their perfection, too.”
Ayo is also the chairman for the 2015 EatLafayette Food Wine Beer & Spirits Experience happening Aug. 3-9. Over the past few months, he has worked to organize this event for the community. The Food Wine Beer & Spirits Experience is an event held inside the participating EatLafayette restaurants. Each of these restaurants is featuring a special that incorporates one of the EatLafayette beverage sponsor products, creating a unique experience of drink and dish pairings for the community. These one-of-a-kind experiences Ayo and the restaurants have created are exclusive to the Food Wine Beer & Spirits week of the EatLafayette campaign.
E’s Kitchen’s featured experience for the upcoming EatLafayette Food Wine Beer & Spirits Experience is a Wine Dinner with Chef Jeremy Connor on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. When describing this event Ayo says, “The menu is not set. This is not for the faint of heart or picky eaters. Come experience great food with no limitations.”
E’s Kitchen will host the Chef’s Table Experience on opening night of this year’s EatLafayette Food Wine Beer & Spirits Experience. The winner of this year’s Chef’s Table Experience contest is Mark Whitney. The contest required participants to choose one of four baskets and tell the judges what meal he would create with the ingredients. Whitney chose the basket that contained chicken thighs, spinach, new potatoes, peanut butter and Rêve Coffee Roasters coffee beans. His meal concept based on these ingredients is what made him the winner of this year’s competition.
Ayo alongside Chefs Holly Goetting of Charley G’s, Manny Augello of Bread & Circus Provisions, Ryan Trahan and Cory Bourgois of Dark Roux., Marc Krampe of Social Southern Table & Bar, and Alex Andrade of Rusted Rooster will honor Mark Whitney by recreating his winning dish on Monday, Aug. 3 for a private dinner with his family and friends.
EatLafayette, which is in its eleventh year, is a summer-long promotion of Lafayette's locally-owned restaurants. This year, 97 restaurants are participating in EatLafayette. For a complete listing of restaurants, specials and events, go to
