Louisiana Breds Strong at OBS March Sale of Select Two-Year-Olds In Training

(New Orleans, La.) - The strength of the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeding Program was evident at the Ocala Breeders Sales Company Sale of Select Two-Year-Olds In Training, March 11, 2014. Seven accredited Louisiana-breds went through the sale ring for a total of $910,000 and an average of $130,000.

Hip number 410, an accredited Louisiana Bred colt by Henny Hughes fetched a whopping $340,000. The colt is a graduate of the Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana Annual Yearling Sale held in West Monroe. Consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, the colt worked an eighth of a mile in 10:00, which tied him with several others for the third fastest time at that distance. Polo Green Stable, Agent was the winning bidder. The colt, out of the stakes winning dam, Swifty Victress, was originally sold for $60,000 at the earlier Louisiana sale.

Hip number 317, an accredited Louisiana Bred colt by Half Ours, impressed buyers at the Ocala Sale by working at quarter of a mile in an eye widening 20:4. The time was the second fastest quarter mile of any of the two-year-olds that worked that distance and thusly rewarded his consignor by bringing $190,000. Consigned by deMeric Sales, Agent 1, the colt was purchased by Navrick International, Agent. The gray or roan colt is out of the Indian Charlie dam, Pata Fresca.

Another graduate of the 2013 Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana Annual Yearling Sale, Hip number 127, an accredited Louisiana Bred Bernstein colt out of a Smart Strike daughter, was purchased for $120,000 by West Point Thoroughbreds, Inc. The colt consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, had previously been purchased at the West Monroe yearling sale for $52,000.

Hip number 260, an accredited Louisiana Bred colt by Honest Man out of Meadowlake mare, Meadowlanding, also worked the eighth of a mile in a fast 10.00. Consigned by Inside Move, Inc., Agent, the colt sold for $95,000 and was also bought by Navrick International, Agent, who purchased a total of seven horses in the sale.
