Lesson Program Underway At Gulf Coast Equestrian

(Youngsville, La.) – Lessons are underway at Gulf Coast Equestrian instructor with Laura Ryan, who is highly credentialed and experienced.
Laura is an accomplished equestrian with decades of experience as a trainer, rider and instructor. “Her instruction and horsemanship skills are an excellent match for our program,” said Scott Butaud, owner of Gulf Coast Equestrian.
Laura is a graduate of The Academy of the Immaculate Conception High School, Opelousas and received her Bachelors Degree in General Studies at Louisiana State University. Baton Rouge.
She has a long history of work in sports and athletics as well as operations. She works for the New Orleans Jazz Basketball and Western Electric in Louisiana, Florida and Georgia.
She honed her riding skills as a working student with Olympic medalist and international dressage judge, Hilda Gurney, in Moorpark, Calif.
She served as the Director of Equestrian Studies at the The Academy of Sacred Heart, Grand Coteau, for several years before opening her own Cedar Lane Farm-boarding, breeding, training and lesson facility in Opelousas. She managed and hosted clinics/training sessions and horse shows at her Cedar Lane Farm.
In 2009, she began Laura Ryan Racing Owner and trainer. Laura Ryan Racing is licensed by Louisiana State Racing Commission. She is a thoroughbred racehorse trainer and is presently a Board Member of the Horseman’s Benevolent Protective Association Medical Trust.
Laura is affiliated with the United States Dressage Federation, United States Equestrian Federation, United States Eventing Association, Southern Eventing and Dressage Association, Horseman’s Benevolent and Protective Association, Louisiana State Racing Commission and Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association. She was a founding board member and past president of Acadiana Dressage and Combined Training Association.
She is a lifelong horse owner, breeder, trainer and rider. She is past board member of St. Landry Youth Athletic Association and the mother of three children, Katie, 27, Jack, 25 and Will, 23.
