Acadiana Rum Wins Big!
September 19, 2013
(Lafayette, La.) - Rank Wildcat Spirits with its Sweet Crude Rum reported to us this morning that they had an absolute blast with Eat Lafayette this year!
They also had some exciting news for us. Sweet Crude was announced yesterday as one of six winners of the 2013 Washington Cup (final competition results can be downloaded). The Washington Cup Competition is a relatively young but rigorously judged event exclusively for American-made spirits and liqueurs. All entries are subjected to three levels of scrutiny:
1) Judges' Choice, consisting of an evaluation of a group of professional tasters in a blind setting with winners advancing to the second phase;
2) Bartenders' Choice, consisting of testing, recipe creation, and blind tasting to cull the entries down to the top twelve; and
3) Peoples' Choice, consisting of consumer blind tasting of the top twelve to narrow the finalists down to the six Cup winners.
The other winners this year include spirits made by Knob Creek and Buffalo Trace, and we are thrilled that a craft product from Louisiana's smallest rum distillery is represented in such a prestigious group. Go Lafayette!!
