(Opelousas, La.)–A total of four stakes races, including the $264,480 LQHBA Sales Futurity and the LQHBA Sales Futurity Invitation Stakes for Quarter Horses highlight the eleven-race closing night program on Saturday, September 8 at Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino. The two Quarter Horse events were scheduled to be contested at the Fairgrounds in New Orleans, La. However, the effects of Hurricane Isaac forced that oval to cancel the final week of their season and the switch to Evangeline Downs. Also on the program will be two divisions of the John Franks Memorial Sales Stakes for two-year-olds. Each division will be worth $60,000 and are restricted to horses that went thru the Sales ring at the 2012 John Franks Sale held this past March at Evangeline Downs.

Dashin Forward, a gelded son of Look Forward who recorded the fastest time of the more than 80 juveniles who competed for the ten spots on August 15, the opening day of the Fairgrounds meet, has been installed as the 3/1 favorite in the morning-line. The victory was the second in six career starts for the Kelli Smith trainee and he covered the 350 yards that afternoon in a sharp 17.349, which was .158 of a second faster than the next fastest time recorded during the nine trials. Jarrod Deschamp, who was aboard in the trial win, has the mount. Logans Mountain, from the powerful Heath Taylor stable, is the only stakes winner in the field and is also the only three-time winner as well is the second choice in the morning-line at odds of 7/2. Other multiple winners in the field include the 2nd fastest qualifier Bare Naked Martini, Streakin Ellen, Jet Black Red Neck, and Jettin for a Fortune.
Carded as the 11th and final race on the program, the LQHBA Sales Futurity has an approximate post time of 9:50 p.m. Central Time.
