Protect Data During Hurricanes and Other Potential Disasters
SkyNet Data Solutions Provides Computing Services in Preparation for Hurricane Season

(Lafayette, La.) – Hurricane season is here and with Tropical Storm Debby's recent affect on the Gulf Coast, some are wondering what they can do to prepare and protect their belongings. SkyNet Data Solutions (SkyNet) has the answer for those who want to protect their digital data and business computing.

Preparation is key to minimizing loss, residentially and commercially. SkyNet provides services for disaster preparation and recovery. Services like off-site backup, co-location, cloud computing and virtualization of machines provide clients with seamless, hassle-free solutions. More importantly, businesses can stay in operation even if they have to evacuate offices.

Off-site backup is the most commonly used service at SkyNet. To install off-site backup, SkyNet installs a piece of software on the user’s computer that will backup the user’s files to SkyNet’s secure servers in the Oil Center. Backup is recommended nightly and is configured to be most efficient and effective for the user. The data center in the Oil Center has a 99+% uptime rate, redundant internet connections, multiple UPS power backups and a redundant backup power grid. The storage servers are then backed up to a third party secure data center in another state.

In the case that a hurricane did affect Acadiana and the user’s in-house data was destroyed, the user would still be able to remotely access files with the services provided by SkyNet.

Ready.gov is a website dedicated to educating and empowering Americans to prepare for and respond to emergencies including natural and man-made disasters. Visit ready.gov/hurricanes for information on how to best prepare for a hurricane in multiple settings.

SkyNet also provides a service in which SkyNet technicians can retrieve data machines, safely store them in SkyNet’s facility and bring them back in the case of a natural disaster, remodeling or moving, all without the user losing access to information.

SkyNet Data Solutions is based in Lafayette, Louisiana. For more information about the services provided by SkyNet Data Solutions, call Josh Reed at (337) 889-0606, or email jreed@skynetdatasolutions.com.
