The Academy of Interactive Entertainment Announces Details of $1 Million in Scholarships Available for Lafayette Area High School Graduates
 
(Lafayette, La.) – The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE), a non-profit specialist educator for the game development, 3D animation and visual effects industries, has a range of scholarships available. In March, AIE announced a series of new in-house undergraduate scholarships providing value up to $1 million dollars for Lafayette area high school graduates. The scholarships provided by this non-profit organization are an outreach to the community aimed at encouraging the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.
 
Application submission requirements for each scholarship can be found on the AIE website at www.theaie.us/scholarships. Deadline for scholarship applications to be considered for the Fall 2012 semester is June 30, 2012. For additional scholarship options and information, visit theaie.us/scholarships.
 
Art Scholarship - $7,500
This scholarship is ideal for candidates who have demonstrated artistic excellence. If you have an amazing art portfolio or show reel, coupled with a thirst to get into games or films, then this one could be for you! Applicants can select from the Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development – Specializing in Art or the Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media – Specializing in 3D Animation and Visual FX.
 
Programming Scholarship - $7,500
This scholarship is ideal for candidates who can demonstrate excellence in the field of mathematics and software development. If you can demonstrate a high aptitude for software development and a passion for making video games then this could be the scholarship for you. Applicants must apply for the Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development – Specializing in Software Development.
 
Needs Based Scholarships - $5,000 - $10,000
These scholarships are ideal for candidates who posses the talent and the passion to further their education at The Academy of Interactive Entertainment, but not necessarily the financial freedom to do so. Applicants must demonstrate their financial need and show exceptional motivation and commitment to successfully complete study at AIE if accepted into a course. Applicants can select from the Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development – Specializing in Art, the Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development – Specializing in Software Development or the Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media – Specializing in 3D Animation and Visual FX.
 
AIE Community Outreach Scholarship - $7,500
Public and private high schools in the Acadiana area are eligible to nominate up to two students to receive scholarships. One programming and one art scholarship is available for each participating high school. High schools have the opportunity to determine suitable students based on merit and/or needs status using the selection procedures provided as a guideline.

Eligibility requirements are as follows:
  • Student must be eligible to enter the school.
  • Student must submit a complete scholarship application form.
  • Student must demonstrate motivation to complete their coursework at AIE.
  • Student must demonstrate passion for the field to which they are applying.
  • For the Art Scholarship: Student must demonstrate artistic excellence.
  • For the Programming Scholarship: Student must demonstrate excellence in the fields of mathematics and software development.
  • For the Needs Based Scholarship: Student must demonstrate the need for monetary assistance.
  • For the Community Outreach Scholarship: Student must acquire a nomination from his or her high school.
